Calculating Avoided Costs with the Latest Tariff Changes

PVComplete has a excellent partner in getting the lastest in rate tariff information into the Cost Savings Calculator for accurate proposals.  Here’s the latest changes

May brings another round of tariff rate updates that affect the Avoided Cost of Power (ACP) for solar customers.  The largest changes were in New England where Eversource Connecticut’s ACP increased 1.3¢/kWh and National Grid – Massachusetts increased by 0.6¢/kWh.  On the flip side, two Maryland utilities (Baltimore Gas & Electric, Delmarva) saw their ACP decrease by 0.5¢/kWh.

Baltimore Gas & Electric (MD): -0.5¢/kWh

  • Tariff: R Residential
  • Average kWh Rate: Was 13.4¢/kWh, Now 13.0¢/kWh, -0.4¢/kWh
  • Avoided Cost of Power: Was 13.4¢/kWh, Now 12.9¢/kWh, -0.5¢/kWh
  • Updated Rates: Generation Charge, Monthly Rate Adjustment, Energy Cost Adjustment

Delmarva (MD): -0.5¢/kWh

  • Tariff: R – Residential
  • Average kWh Rate: Was 14.7¢/kWh, Now 14.2¢/kWh, -0.5¢/kWh
  • Avoided Cost of Power: Was 14.7¢/kWh, Now 14.2¢/kWh, -0.5¢/kWh
  • Updated Rates: RGGI Rate Credit, Bill Stabilization Adjustment, Procurement Cost Adjustment

Eversource Connecticut (CT): +1.3¢/kWh
